Portage Township is a civil township of Mackinac County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township population was 1,055.

Curtis is an unincorporated village in the township, located between Manistique Lake and South Manistique Lake.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 187.0 km (72.2 mi). 143.5 km (55.4 mi) of it is land and 43.4 km (16.8 mi) of it (23.23%) is water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there were 1,055 people, 462 households, and 312 families residing in the township. The population density was 7.3/km (19.0/mi). There were 1,060 housing units at an average density of 7.4/km (19.1/mi). The racial makeup of the township was 94.31% White, 0.28% African American, 3.41% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.19% from other races, and 1.71% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.04% of the population.
